If you are using IE 11 on Windows 8.1 and you receive a linking error, then you have a couple of options.
1. Launch IE as an administrator (Right click IE > Run as administrator)
2. Disable 'Protected Mode'

To disable Enhanced Protected Mode, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer for the desktop.
- Tap or click Tools, and then tap or click Internet options.
- On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Enable Enhanced Protected Mode check box under Security.
- Tap or click OK.
